We love IPL, but know many of you still have lots of questions! Here we want to highlight a few common questions we have received and give you the real IPL facts!
Myth: IPL is the same as Laser Treatments
Fact: IPL (unlike Laser) uses a broad spectrum of wavelengths of light opposed to a single wavelength, which not only minimizes risks to the skin with a lower all-at-once energy process, it also filters the light to target specific chromosomes in the skin to help treat multiple skin conditions.
Myth: Several wavelengths = More downtime!
Fact: With several enhanced wavelengths of light, rather than one intense wavelength, the energy emitted into the skin is dispersed to a larger area which decreases the chance of injury to the upper layers of the skin. After a patch test confirms, clients ideally can receive treatment during a lunch break and return to work immediately afterwards, all while avoiding direct sunlight and using an effective sunscreen.
Myth: IPL is not as effective as Microdermabrasion.
Fact: IPL is not only a non-invasive procedure, it is extremely effective. One IPL treatment is equivalent to 12 sessions of microdermabrasion skin treatments!
Myth: You will only need one session.
Fact: Depending on the treatment you are receiving, IPL sessions are normally recommended as 3-6 sessions for ideal facial rejuvenation, and 6-12 are usually necessary for hair removal. This process of sessions results in minimal downtime and injury (number of sessions are also recommended in your complimentary consultation).
Myth: Only women can receive IPL hair removal.
Fact: BOTH men and woman can receive hair removal treatments. Although we find treatments to be virtually painless, men can experience a slightly higher discomfort as their hair is typically a coarser, darker hair.
